Town Hall Update!
Posted Jul 29, 2025
We asked for your support and you showed up!
On our first day of negotiations, we noted an auspicious absence at the bargaining table. Bonnie, our CNO was nowhere to be found. We expressed directly to management the importance of her presence with a carefully worded letter and request for a prompt response. Management's legal team responded that they felt that they had appropriate representation at the table with the team that was present.
Months (and 6 bargaining sessions later), we had yet to hear from Bonnie herself.
Not knowing if she had even received our message, we made a plan to ask her directly at the regularly scheduled RN town hall. This is after all, our forum to bring up and go over concerns affecting nursing at SCH, is it not?
In our lightning poll last week, over 500 WSNA RNs responded that it is important for our CNO Bonnie to join us at the bargaining table as we negotiate towards a fair contract for nurses that includes stronger DEI language, measures to promote health and safety for nurses and patients, and wages that will help us to recruit and retain.
Over 150 WSNA RNs waited patiently for our turn to speak directly to our CNO Bonnie to request (again) that she be present at bargaining. Sadly, we were not able to read our entire statement before Bonnie interrupted us and promptly left the room. She made it clear that she had known before this meeting that her presence was requested.

In every cycle of bargaining, we come to a point where management does not seem to believe that as we negotiate for better wages and working conditions, we are acting as representatives of every single nurse in this hospital.
We need to make it clear that EVERY NURSE cares about the future of the nursing profession at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
