We Spoke at the Board Meeting—Did Management Hear Us?

On Wednesday, July 9, nurses from UWMC Montlake and Northwest showed up and spoke out at the UW Board of Regents meeting.
We brought our passion for our patients and our frustration with management’s inability to move on key priorities, especially wages and protecting 28/160 self-scheduling. We made it clear:
- We’re not numbers on a spreadsheet.
- We’re the backbone of this hospital.
- We deserve a contract that respects and retains nurses.
A 3% raise over two years won’t cut it. It won’t recruit or retain the nurses our patients rely on. And stripping away our ability to self-schedule only drives more nurses out the door.
Nurses from both campuses spoke truth to power—sharing raw testimony about what we’re facing on the floor every day. You can watch their powerful testimony here. The Regents listened, and we believe they heard us. But we can’t stop now.
