WSNA Sponsoring Nurses Week Breakfast May 5
Posted May 1, 2025
Let's celebrate Nurses Week at Good Sam May 5-9. The WSNA officers are sponsoring the breakfast on Monday May 5 from 6-9 a.m. in the Gordon Educational Conference Room. We will be serving Breakfast Burritos catered by Masonry Cafe. Enjoy your breakfast and feel free to take some burritos for your co-workers. We will have WSNA swag, and a prize raffle for scrubs, shoes, stethoscope and water bottles. You will need to come down if you'd like to enter for the drawings.
Reminder: Blue Fridays - Wear your WSNA T-Shirts
Continue showing your union spirit by wearing your WSNA blue T-shirts on Blue Fridays. If you do not work on Fridays, then wear them on a different day. Take a photo and post on our Facebook group. Have a co-worker invite you to the Facebook group if you are not yet a member. If you need a shirt, contact Ilia Mondoy at mondoyit@gmail.com.
Professional Accountability Standards
Many nurses were given a Professional Accountability Standards document from managers. WSNA was concerned that these were contracts which required your signature and submission back to management. We discussed this at our April Conference Committee (Labor/Management) Meeting. It was clarified by Good Sam leadership that these are not "contracts" and that your signature is NOT mandatory. However, bear in mind that these standards are very good reminders of the expectations of Good Sam employees.
Meal Waivers
WSNA has concerns about the Meal Waivers and have requested to meet with management to bargain the changes in working conditions. Management does not agree that this is a mandatory subject of bargaining. WSNA strongly disagrees and believe we should bargain the effects of this change. We (WSNA Good Sam, TG and Mary Bridge NICU) met with management on April 7. We still have issues to iron out and will have more information for you as this issue progresses. Please continue to let us know what concerns you have about the meal waiver.
Seeking Union Leaders
We are looking for union leadership: Unit Representatives, Grievance Officers, Social Media Chairperson. Contact us if you'd like more information about these roles. Training will be provided. Watch for unit rep trainings coming soon.
