Nurses at UW Medicine push for flexibility, greater safety amid contract negotiations

Nurses from UW Medicine’s Northwest and Montlake campuses are in active contract negotiations with UW administration as their current agreement is set to expire at the end of June.

The Washington State Nurses Association, which represents a portion of nurses from both campuses, is spearheading the bargaining efforts, advocating for continued flexible scheduling and stronger workplace protections.

“The negotiations are fundamental to keeping a healthy workforce of nurses who can maintain that passion for caring for their community,” UWMC Northwest nurse and co-chair of the bargaining unit, Kaitlyn Fochs said.
