Balanced Billing Hearing

WSNA this week joined many other health care and labor organizations in testifying on HB 1117 on balanced billing. This bill seeks to ensure that consumers receiving care at an in-network facility are charged the in-network rate for out-of-network providers working in that facility.

Melissa Johnson, WSNA’s lobbyist, provided testimony that you can view here (starts at 1:16:57).

In her testimony, Melissa referenced WSNA’s member survey – please use the link below to take the survey if you have not already done so!

WSNA Member Debt Survey

If you’ve not yet taken 5 minutes to complete the Debt Survey – please do so by Monday, January 16th. We need your information to provide the nurse perspective on these issues.

This legislative session, WSNA is supporting legislation aimed at reducing consumer debt – with a focus on both medical debt and student loan debt.

As we prepare to weigh in on these important issues, we are asking WSNA members to complete a survey regarding their experiences with both medical and student loan debt. The answers will allow us to better discuss both issues and the impact they have on nurses. We appreciate you completing the survey, and please encourage your colleagues to do the same.

The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete – thank you in advance for your participation!

Legislator Newsletters: How to Sign-up

During session, legislators send out regular email newsletters to keep their constituents informed about both what is happening in Olympia and their priorities. We recommend that you sign-up to receive e-news from your legislators during session.

It’s a great way to learn:

  • what your legislators are working on,
  • what your legislators value, and
  • to find things you can connect with your legislators about at Nurse Legislative Day or during a Legislative Town Hall Meeting in your district.

Many legislators also hold “Tele-Town Hall Meetings” during session – which is a conference call with their constituents. You can find out how to participate in Tele-Town Halls via your legislators’ e-newsletters as well.

To sign-up, visit www.leg.wa.gov, and find your legislators’ home pages. You’ll find the e-news sign-up easily on most legislators’ home pages - Here's an example:
