A generous donor has created an extraordinary opportunity to support the next generation of nurses. Every donation to the Washington State Nurses Foundation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000, through April 30.

This means a $50 donation becomes $100, and a $500 donation becomes $1,000, directly funding scholarships for nursing students across Washington state.

Legacy of giving

The match comes from a generous, anonymous donor whose late wife was a nurse and who is very supportive of the profession of nursing. By offering this match, the donor is honoring her legacy and helping ensure more students can afford a nursing education.

WSNF has been supporting nursing students with scholarships since 1982. The foundation’s scholarships go to well-qualified nursing students across Washington state who will soon be joining the profession or are pursuing graduate degrees in nursing.

At a time when earning a nursing degree can cost as much as $200,000 at a private institution, many nursing students need financial assistance to pursue their nursing dreams. The scholarships WSNF provides have made it possible for many students to start and continue their nursing education.

Record-breaking support, with more to be done

In 2024, generous donors made it possible for WSNF to award 32 scholarships totaling $68,000. That’s the most the foundation has ever been able to award. You can read more about these outstanding students on the 2024 recipients page. With your help, the foundation can keep this level of support for nursing students going.

WSNF just closed applications for the 2025 cycle and received more submissions than ever. The trustees would like to meet or exceed what they were able to give last year. Your tax-deductible donation now will help us get there.

How to give

Foundation trustees are working hard to reach fundraising goals to take advantage of this opportunity. But they can’t do it alone. It will take many donors committed to supporting nursing students to raise $50,000 and take advantage of the full match.
