UW Medicine nurses to speak at Board of Regents Meeting July 9

Nurses at UW Medical Center Montlake and Northwest will be bringing their concerns affecting their well-being and patient care to the Board of Regents meeting July 9.

When: 4 p.m., July 9.

Where: UW Campus, Zillow Commons (4th floor), Gates Center.

Who: Five nurses have registered to speak during public comments:

  • Trish Bouzek - UW Northwest Float Pool.
  • Kaitlyn Fochs - UW Northwest Childbirth Center
  • Rae Davis - UW Montlake Heart Institute
  • Melissa Sanchez - UW Montlake Labor and Delivery
  • Teresa Wren - UW Montlake, recently retired

Issues: Workplace violence, flexible scheduling, staffing incentives, below-market wages.

The 3,122 nurses at UW Medical Center Montlake (2,153 members) and Northwest (969 members) are represented by the Washington State Nurses Union. Their contract expired June 30.
