A Win for Evergreen Nurses!!

WSNA and Evergreen reached a settlement on a ULP filed against Evergreen Health. This settlement includes PERC training for union nurses as well as for management at Evergreen Health, as well as additional commitments from your employer that secure your union rights. This is a huge win and was achieved with the participation of nurses like you!

Please see the full agreement below.

PERC Case No. 139227-U-24

Washington State Nurses Association (“WSNA”) and EvergreenHealth (collectively “the parties”) have agreed to resolve PERC charge No. 139227-U-24 as follows:

The parties agree to a one-day (up to eight hours with one half hour unpaid meal period) training by PERC on collective bargaining and the labor relations relationship, including grievances and ULPs, to be held on a mutually agreeable date in 2025

The Union attendees will include the WSNA Nurse Representative for EvergreenHealth and up to 25 Evergreen Union-represented nurses. The Employer will release bargaining unit attendees and will pay up to 17 of those nurses to attend the training.  If there is an unforeseen emergency preventing the majority of participants from attending or being released from work, then the training will be rescheduled to another mutually agreeable date and time.

The Employer attendees include the leaders on the Hospital Staffing Committee, including the Chief Nursing Officer, all HR Business Partners and the Director of Labor and Employee Relations (total 18 attendees).

The parties will work with PERC on the content of this training, a part of which will be to encourage the parties to resolve issues at the lowest possible level, including but not limited to through the CBA grievance procedure.

The Union will withdraw the ULP complaint (139227-U-24)

Within 14 days of the last signature on the settlement, the Employer will email to all bargaining unit employees a message that includes but is not limited to:

  • WSNA has the right to choose its own bargaining unit representatives without interference from EvergreenHealth.
  • WSNA has the right to operate free from control or interference from EvergreenHealth in its internal affairs.
  • EvergreenHealth WILL NOT tell WSNA administration to replace a WSNA staff member with another, and/or interfere with the administration of WSNA.
  • EvergreenHealth and WSNA have agreed to a joint labor relations training session facilitated by the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) and to take place in 2025. EvergreenHealth will be asking participants to report back to their units on key learnings.

The agreed upon email content is appended as Appendix A.
