Your bargaining team has been working diligently and in good faith to try and bring home the best contract we can. The team feels the loss of their friend Wayne Lucey; many stories and good memories were shared during our Tuesday Caucus last week. The team met with the employer on Wednesday, June 18. We responded to several proposals from the employer:
- RBS (rest between shifts) – We are proposing this be for the entirety of the shift and not just the first 8 hours.
- We agreed to add compensatory time to the NW contract.
- We discussed the meal and rest break waivers and the need for break relief per the addendum to the RCW that went into effect on April 21, 2025.
- The employer is still unwilling to add a Cath lab premium; we keep pushing for it based on the number of call hours the nurses are required to take and the 30-minute call-back window.
- We have agreed on language around shift rotation.
- We are also in agreement to create a new article around donning and doffing for units required to change. This is very important as we go from the time clock rounding to the minute timekeeping.
- We have also agreed on a workplace violence workgroup for both campuses, which will bring concerns and issues to the larger committee.
We will be meeting with the employer again on June 30, 2025, at the Gateway building. If you are interested in attending this session, please let Zach Seikel know in advance (zseikel@wsna.org). If everyone can please wear their bargaining buttons on Monday, the support is appreciated.
