Mares OR/PACU Letter of Understanding Signed

WSNA is pleased to announce that a new Letter of Understanding (LOU) for Mares OR and PACU nurses has been signed between WSNA and Confluence Health Hospital. The agreement addresses call practices and scheduling expectations for RNs working in the Mares Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

What Mares OR/PACU nurses should know

The signed LOU includes:

  • No overnight call unless mutually agreed.
  • No weekend or holiday call unless mutually agreed.
  • Call trades are permitted with manager approval.
  • Newly hired RNs will have“buddy call” during orientation before moving into regular call expectations.
  • Trained and qualified full-time and part-time RNs will self-sign up for equitable call.
  • OR/PACU call ends at midnight.
  • The LOU provides clarification regarding when call begins, callback, low-census situations, and the transition between low census and scheduled call.
  • For PACU, the 1900 call start time remains unchanged, with arrival no later than 1930 if called back.

Thank you to our Mares OR/PACU nurses for your engagement and continued advocacy. Your participation helps ensure nurses have a voice in decisions affecting their working conditions.
