Meet your WSNA Officers

https://www.wsna.org/union/island-hospital

Your Nurse Representative and Officers are here to represent all the bargaining unit nurses at Island Hospital. They will attend Investigatory meetings with you; so please always call upon one of them when a meeting is investigatory in nature and may now or in the future lead to disciplinary action. Let them know right away if you have a pay discrepancy which management is not resolving; have a contract issue which management is not following; or if you receive disciplinary action which you do not feel is justified. Let them know your staffing concerns as the Hospital Staffing Committee meets monthly. Let them know which issues you'd like to have heard at the quarterly Nurse Conference Committee meetings where they meet with hospital leadership.

Chair Mari Stewart, RN, CMSRN, ICU

I came to Island Hospital in 2020 with ICU experience and a vast background in ICU, Management, and 25+ years in ophthalmology and optical. I moved from Chico, California to be close to family in Anacortes. I fell in love with Anacortes and the community. I am dedicated to Island Hospital and the employees that work here. I want to see IH be the best that we can be. I am passionate about my family and friends and am dedicated to my community. The beauty of nature connects me to this island, and I love supporting local businesses. I hope to do great things here, while empowering our nurses to love where they work.

I am a seasoned ED nurse with a BSN and a decade of experience in high-acuity trauma settings. As a dedicated nurse advocate and educator, I am deeply passionate about fostering safe environments for both patients and staff, and I actively work to advance nursing rights and protections within the healthcare system. My career is driven by a commitment to clinical excellence, continuous learning, and championing the well-being of the nursing profession. Born and raised on the Jersey Shore, the military moved us to Oak Harbor in 2015 and I fell in love with the area and now live in Anacortes with my husband John, and my black lab Baker. In my free time I love to read, swim, ski, bake, and spend time outdoors with my family.
