Holiday Low Census Preference Survey Reminder
Posted Sept. 15, 2026
Remember to complete the holiday low census preference survey. Your feedback will help us determine how to approach a potential memorandum of understanding with MultiCare regarding low census on contractual holidays.
This survey is not a vote to change the contract.
The survey will remain open through September 25, but do not wait. Make your voice heard today by clicking the button below.

Flu Clinic Volunteer Hours
The Union recently learned that MultiCare was asking nurses to work unpaid volunteer hours at its flu clinics. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employees of a nonprofit organization may not volunteer to provide the same type of services they perform as part of their regular employment.
WSNA raised this concern with MultiCare, and we understand that MultiCare is now offering paid time for nurses who work at this year’s flu clinics.
WSNA has also submitted a request for information regarding unpaid work at flu clinics in previous years and other volunteer opportunities. We will carefully review the information MultiCare provides and determine whether further action is necessary.
We strongly support volunteerism, but employer-sponsored volunteer opportunities must comply with the law. Nurses deserve to be paid for work that should be treated as compensable time.
We want to hear about your experiences. If you have performed unpaid volunteer work for MultiCare within the past three years, please contact Jared at JRichardson@wsna.org.
Our Union Is Strongest When We Participate
Whether you are completing a survey, sharing your experience, asking a question, or standing up for a coworker, your participation makes our Union stronger. Every improvement we achieve starts with nurses speaking up and standing together.
Thank you for staying informed, getting involved, and supporting one another. Together, we will continue protecting our contract, defending our rights, and building a stronger voice for every nurse in the Mary Bridge NICU.
In solidarity,
