Our Contract Is Ratified—Now the Work Continues

Nurses at UWMC-NW have voted to ratify our new contract. This new contract, including wage increases, went into full effect on September 1, 2025. This decision reflects a major step forward and a testament to the strength we’ve built together through every action, every conversation, and every show of solidarity.

This contract delivers important wins: stronger protections on workplace violence, new gains for per diem nurses, the elimination of ghost steps, and the defeat of every takeaway management proposed. These improvements reflect what’s possible when nurses stand united. At the same time, we know this agreement doesn’t solve every issue we face. Many nurses spoke strongly about staffing and break relief, and that fight is far from over.

Ratification doesn’t mark the end—it marks the next phase. Our work now is enforcing what we won, building on our momentum, and preparing for the future. That means packing the hospital staffing committee, filing ADOs when conditions are unsafe and bringing more of our coworkers into the union. Every new member, every unit rep, every act of solidarity strengthens our ability to hold management accountable and win the care standards our patients and profession deserve.

Thank you to every nurse who voted and every nurse who stood up in this campaign. Together, we’ve secured this contract, and together, we’ll keep pushing for more.
