Bargaining update session 7

Hello Overlake Nurses,

We had our seventh and final scheduled bargaining session on 4/21. We did not finish bargaining and have scheduled another for 4/28 next week. However we were able to make some headway on the remaining issues. Overlake explained their desire to modify our PTO as a response to requests for inclusivity and diversity. With this in mind, we made a counter proposal that would allow us to keep our PTO banked for when we want to use it. If Overlake is sincere about its intent and accept, we think it might actually be an improvement. We see wages as tied to this PTO proposal and we are going back and forth to try to come up with fair numbers.

Despite the wonderful testimony of our per diems, Overlake has not been swayed to stop pushing their per diem weekend requirements. We continue to push back against management's proposal, cautioning that some existing per diems would leave because this is a clear change in expectations.

We did make some headway on break relief issues. We are working on ideas for pilot programs that would help us with this on our units. Please contact Sam Scholl our Nurse Representative if you have thoughts for tangible solutions, or even just to discuss - sscholl@wsna.org. We are still accepting PTO donations. Send the below form with even just a hour or so to Sam Scholl if you can spare it.

We are hopeful we are approaching the end of negotiations and will continue to push for a fair contract for all of us #Overlakeheroes. Our next session is this Wednesday, 4/28. You can see our video testimonies and bargaining updates on our private Facebook group. Contact Zach Seikel, WSNA Organizer, if you need an invitation to join zseikel@wsna.org, all Overlake Nurses are welcome.

In Solidarity,
Sharon Sims RN E4
