On July 31, 2024, our contract negotiation team met with PeaceHealth St. John administration for our second day of in person negotiations. We received management’s opening proposal. Their proposal included a lot of terms that make things easier for them but harder for the nurses. Some of the lowlights: language giving them the right to unilaterally implement a self-scheduling system without your input, and elimination of all double time premium pay, a proposal that makes health insurance less reliable,  and a pay scale that doesn’t keep the nurses at St. John competitive with the Portland area. In fact, management stated that they don’t consider Portland hospital wages at all when they propose wage rates at PH St. John! Your bargaining team is working hard this week and next on counterproposals that will set them straight when we meet again on 8/12.

Virtual union meetings start tonight! Every week during negotiations your bargaining team will be hosting virtual meetings on Wednesdays from 1800-1900 to give updates on negotiations, hear comments and answer questions!
