Case Management Group MOU - Bargaining Update #3

On April 2, we met with the Hospital for our third bargaining session. We were definitely FAR APART on some key issues. The bargaining team remained focused on priorities as expressed by Case Manager RNs, Utilization Management RNs, and Care Manager RNs. Overall, we pushed the needle forward.

Remote Work

As you likely recall, we proposed strong and protective language around ‘remote work’ based on survey results and feedback from our team. Remaining remote and retaining flexibility was called out as a priority for the group. The Hospital came to the table with a proposal that sent a clear and divisive message. Some highlights include:

  • ‘WSNA Case Managers are unable to work remotely without written approval from the Director
  • Upon ratification, all UM RNs shall be deemed approved for remote work
  • Upon ratification, all Care Manager RNs shall be considered approved to work remote but expect to see patients in-person at the Hospital as directed or needed
  • All Case Manager RNs will NOT be deemed approved for remote work

Our bargaining team counter proposed with language that aligned more closely with the expressed needs of our entire team.

Movement Our Direction

The Hospital came our way in varying degrees on issues such as:

  • Remote work
  • Seniority
  • Weekends (Modified Baylor)
  • Reallocation of Staff, Reduction in Force (Layoff), and Recall
  • Professional Governance & Staffing
  • Leave Transition Plan
  • Sick Leave Deposits

Although we appreciated the movement, it simply was not enough. We will continue to engage with the Hospital to fight for a STRONG and FAIR MOU!

Time to Talk Economics

In order to allow our team to make the most informed decisions about economics, WSNA prepared information that provides data for both salaried and hourly pathways. This is a high priority issue for the entire team. Come join the Sip n Chat on Monday to learn more and to get bargaining updates.
