Who do you want to lead your local unit in the next term?

Now is the time to submit your nominations for the next term of your WSNA local unit officers. The term of office is through Dec 2029. Vacancies are fulfilled through appointment during the term of the contract The nomination period ends October 16 at midnight.

Only WSNA members in good standing are eligible for WSNA positions.

All King County staff nurses may nominate a WSNA peer for office. 

Do not worry 😊, following the nomination period, all nominees will be notified to confirm eligibility and secure that the  nurse member consents to be on the ballot and serve if elected.

Local Unit Officer Positions overview:

  • Chair: Presides at all meetings of the Local Unit; Chairs quarterly conference committee meetings; Upholds the rules and policies of WSNA and the Local Unit.
  • Vice Chair: In the absence of the chairperson, the vice-chair shall perform the duties of the chairperson; shall become chairperson in case of vacancy. This is commonly also  a shared, complementary role with Chair.
  • Secretary: Takes minutes at officer and quarterly conference committee meetings; May assist in writing communications to the local unit.
  • Treasurer: Has the primary responsibility of managing the appropriate use of local unit funds for purposes which support the local unit per WSNA policy and bylaws.
  • Grievance Officers (more than one 😊): Are the first point of contact for nurses with questions about the contract and investigatory meetings; Works closely with the Nurse Rep to determine if a grievance exists and what next steps to take. No, you don’t need to be a contract expert  but you will learn a lot! 
  • Membership Officers (more than one): Work with WSNA staff to meet or talk with  new hires 1-2 times per month to share with them why being a union member matters so much, how to join and become an informed and engaged WSNA member at Seattle King County!

Union Steward trainings will continue, formerly known as site reps! Stay tuned for upcoming offerings later this month through the end of 2026.

Please note that the site reps that have served as a liaison at work sites are invited to transition with training and support into the local unit steward role. This role and training is intentional in providing a solid foundation to build and maintain a unified and engaged local unit.
