Day #8 Negotiation Update

Your WSNA bargaining team recently met with SRHD management to continue negotiations for a new contract. Here are a few key updates from the session.

Wages: We proposed 3.25%, 3%, and 2.5% increases, and modified the PHN market adjustment to 4% in year one and 1% in year two. We will continue working toward a proposal that helps close the market gap while finding a pathway for a fair contract.

Preceptors: We discussed expectations for nurses serving as preceptors. Your team emphasized the need for clear guidance and a checklist of responsibilities so nurses understand what is expected when orienting new hires.

Bilingual Pay: Discussions continue around how nurses demonstrate language proficiency and ensuring the process is fair and practical. Your team is advocating for contract language that allows nurses to demonstrate proficiency through mutually acceptable methods, not solely certification, while also ensuring nurses are not required to communicate in another language unless appropriately recognized and compensated.

Negotiations are ongoing, and we will continue advocating for fair compensation, safe working conditions, and clear expectations for nurses.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for March 27, 2027
