Day #7 Bargaining Update: Wages, and Preceptor Progress

Your WSNA bargaining team of nurses met with management today for another round of bargaining session. We felt decent progress was made and below is a summary of the discussions which occurred at the table.

  • Comp Time: Changes in use of compensatory time was discussed, and both sides are taking into account the needs of the nurses while working to find middle ground. We feel progress was made here in preserving this benefit for the nurses.
  • Wages: WSNA maintained its proposal of 3.5%, 3.5%, and 2.75%, and continues to push to close the wage gap between PHNs and CHNs with a 2% adjustment for the PHNs only each year of the contract. We remain apart on wages in general, but remain hopeful we will find a solution in the coming sessions.
  • Bilingual Pay: WSNA proposed clearer expectations and consistent standards for bilingual work, with a proposal to management to increase the dollar amount, and provide for a minimum of an hours worth of pay. Management is considering our proposal and will get back to us around this at our next bargaining session.
  • Preceptor Pay: WSNA presented revised language ensuring preceptors receive training and that new hires remain assigned until they can work independently.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 9. Your bargaining team remains united and committed to advocating for safety, fairness, and strong contract language.
