Voting opens Thursday for the Meal and Rest Break Waiver Memorandum of Understanding.

Your officers are recommending a YES vote!

Changes in Washington State law resulted in the need to bargain over a new waiver. After several months of bargaining a meal and rest break waiver form, we are happy to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement! Your officers are strongly recommending a YES vote. We will be conducting a virtual vote from 0600 on May 21 to 1200 on May 22! This agreed upon waiver clearly spells out your rights under Washington State law. This new waiver allows you to waive the default timing on meals and/or rest breaks within certain parameters and waive certain meal periods as well as combining breaks in certain circumstances.  It also makes it clear that the form is revokable and that WSNA members can't be coerced or compelled to waive their rights around meal and rest breaks.

PLEASE NOTE- If you do not wish to waive the timing or your breaks and/or waive a meal where permissible, you do not have to do that. It is YOUR choice.  This MOU is in place in case you want to do want to exercise one of your options now or in the future!

Please read the MOU carefully. The waiver portion of the MOU describes the options you have for waiving timing of meals and breaks and/or waiving meal periods.  The new waiver will be included with your ballot and can be viewed in the featured documents section of this page.

You can vote virtually anytime between 0600 on May 21 - 1200 on May 22. All members in good standing (that is, current dues-paying members) will receive a unique online ballot to the same email address on file. If you do not receive a ballot at 0600 on May 21, please check your junk and spam email. If you still haven’t seen a ballot, contact your WSNA Rep!

We will be holding several virtual Q & A  Drop-In sessions during voting.  You can also email your nurse rep with your questions.
