Union News at St. Joe’s
Posted Feb 13, 2026
A lot has happened over the past few weeks. From grievances to scheduling issues to upcoming union events, WSNA nurses continue to show strong engagement and solidarity. Keep reading for the latest updates and ways to stay involved.
Grievances Update
More than two dozen per diem nurses joined our grievance meeting with CNO Roseanna Bell on Monday. Nurses presented clear evidence that recent scheduling changes conflict with more than 22 years of established contract language and past practice. Nurses from across the hospital spoke about their experiences and emphasized how these changes undermine the value of per diem nurses and the stability they bring to patient care.
Management must respond to this grievance by February 20. We will share an update as soon as we receive their response.
We also held separate grievance meetings this week regarding the use of education hours and educational funds. We will keep you informed once management responds.
Master Schedule Advocacy Works
Several nurses raised concerns that management have been moving nurses off established schedule patterns without first seeking volunteers. After raising this issue, management confirmed that seeking volunteers first is the expectation and committed to following that practice moving forward.
Thank you to everyone who spoke up. Advocacy for ourselves and our colleagues strengthens our contract, improves working conditions, and protects patient care.
Monthly In-Person Union Meetings Begin March 3
We will begin holding informal in-person union meetings on the first Tuesday of each month starting March 3.
First meeting:

Join us to connect with fellow union nurses, share concerns, and stay engaged in the work we are doing together.
WSNA Leadership Conference Scholarships Available
Seven scholarships remain available for the WSNA Leadership Conference, April 26–28 in Wenatchee.
Each scholarship includes:
• Full conference registration, $150 value
• Up to $600 reimbursement for lodging and travel
Accepting a scholarship includes a commitment to serve as a Union Steward for the remainder of the current contract. Steward training will take place during the conference.
This conference offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen advocacy skills, build leadership capacity, and prepare for our next contract campaign. Strong nurse leadership drives stronger contracts and better patient care.
If you are interested in a scholarship, contact Jared Richardson at JRichardson@WSNA.org.
If you would like to register for the conference without a scholarship you can do so here:
