Big Union Wins at St. Joe’s!
Posted Feb 27, 2026
Our solidarity is paying off in a big way.
On February 9, dozens of WSNA RNs showed up for the per diem scheduling grievance meeting, and it made all the difference. Per diem RNs were no longer being scheduled for all of their available days as required by the contract and as has been the practice for at least 22 years. Today, we received an official response from the CNO, and the grievance was affirmed in favor of WSNA.
What does that mean?
PeaceHealth has agreed to return to the previous scheduling process and will once again schedule per diems according to their stated availability, exactly as outlined in Articles 5.4.2 and 7.10 of our contract. This means that per diem RNs should be scheduled for the shifts they provide. Please reach out to Jared or a Board member if you are not scheduled to your availability.
A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and demonstrated the power of collective action. PeaceHealth heard us because we showed up together.
More Wins for WSNA Nurses
Two additional grievances were also affirmed in our favor:
- It is confirmed that RTLS are qualified to apply for NTL positions, and those positions must be awarded based on seniority.
- We secured another individual win related to the appropriate use of education leave.
Nursing is a 24/7 profession, and enforcing our contract is a 24/7 responsibility. We succeed because nurses advocate for ourselves, each other, and our patients. When we stand together, we win.
