Bargaining update and vote information

We had a great Town Hall meeting last evening!

On Thursday, November 20, our WSNA bargaining team hosted a virtual Town Hall meeting that was attended by nearly 50 Montlake RNs throughout the facility.

Our first topic of discussion was the rationale behind our team of WSNA nurses recommending a “YES” vote on this contract.  We reviewed the many benefits we achieved including wages, a lump sum bonus, increased premiums and many more!

Folks had many great questions that we worked through regarding the TA and its implementation, especially as it relates to the new Actual Time Reported (ATR) timekeeping system coming in Feb of 2026.  After this contract is ratified, we will shortly thereafter be engaging in bargaining for the transition to Actual Time Reported and subsequent scheduling changes for RNs

Some other questions had to do with what happens if this contract does not pass a vote of the nurses.

The answer is not a short one but a few of the things we could expect are:

  • RNs will not get their wages until the expiration of the current extension (evergreen year under state law) which is July 1, 2026
  • The employer would have rationale to declare “impasse” which will allow it to impose their last proposal (this places wages on hold and puts the $1500 lump sum bonus at risk).
  • RNs would lose the ability to have a voice in how the new ATR timekeeping and scheduling systems are implemented
  • We will not be able to secure anything more than we already have for this contract
  • Any action taken by WSNA (ULP, Lawsuit or other) would take much longer than the July 1 date and cost RNs a significant amount in lost wages RNs would have otherwise earned, with no ability to recoup retro

We are hosting a second virtual Town Hall meeting on Monday, November 24 at 1700

Attend this virtual Town Hall meetings to find out how we got to this agreement and why we strongly recommend a “YES” vote

We hope you are able to attend and share your questions along with gathering some great information through other RN inquiries as well.
