Furlough update

UWMC Administration has approached WSNA with a desire to create a potential second round of furloughs that include RNs at UWMC along with staff from other classifications belonging to several unions.

In doing so, they made a proposal to have 24-hour notice to a second round of furloughs lasting an undisclosed period of time. We believe this notice is unreasonably short and does not allow for current employees to plan for this unplanned, unpaid time off.

Their proposal also allows the employer to call staff back with as little as 48 hours’ notice.

This is synonymous with daily low census ….which is not currently part of the WSNA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Please see the links below to Petition to be sent to Lisa Brandenburg as well as an Action that is taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 12:30 p.m. in front of UWMC Montlake.

Sign the petition today and show up tomorrow to let UWMC know that we do not agree with any effort to create Low Census for RNs at UWMC Montlake!
