WSNA at UWMC Montlake Amended Vote Summary
Posted Aug 22, 2025
As part of the email vote summary communication that went out to all members on Thursday August 21, we overlooked one of the major components of the overall summary of contract changes.
That change includes the employer moving away from the Kronos Rounding Timekeeping System and to the (ATR) Actual Time Recorded or minute to minute timekeeping clocking system.
As part of the move to ATR, this will include the removal of the 28/160 Flexible Scheduling System also known in our contract as the Innovative Work Schedule.
This represents a significant takeaway for the many RNs that currently enjoy this scheduling benefit.
This was clearly spelled out in a number of previous communications but failed to find its way into our advertised vote summary.
Thanks for your understanding and please reach out to WSNA Ed Zercher for any additional questions relevant to this part of the vote summary at ezercher@wsna.org.
In regard to the employer's August 18 communication to RNs from Timothy Dellit and Brad Simmons...
Not all was roses during this current bargaining session...
This communication appears to try and stress the employer's unwavering dedication to their RNs. The same RNs that are often working short staffed (without a break relief nurse) and asked to work beyond their regular shifts.
This communication impresses the potential losses in funding from sources including Washington State Legislature and Congress but fails to tell you that RN salaries at UWMC come almost exclusively from Patient Care Revenue.
This communication fails to mention that while the parties reached a Tentative Agreement, it was not sufficient in the eyes of the WSNA RN Bargaining Team to compensate for the loss of flexible schedules, nor to recruit and retain RNs. Consequently, the Team was unable to recommend a "YES" vote to our members.
The vote for this contract will be taking place on August 28 and 29.
This is your chance to vote your conscience and let the employer know just what you think about their last proposal.
