There are less than three weeks to go before negotiations begin, and your team is already hard at work preparing. For the past several weeks, we've been shining a spotlight on the WSNA nurses leading that work. This week we're introducing the ED's own Kimberly Travis-Carter. Here's what she had to say:

"Hello! I'm Kimberly Travis-Carter — some may know me as Kim TC.  I've been a nurse for 22 years, and I've spent all of that time working in an emergency department.

I've been involved with the union since we negotiated our first contract with CommonSpirit. I'm on the negotiating team for this next contract, and I'm your WSNA local unit secretary. I also represent the ER on the staffing committee and workplace violence committee and work on many other behind-the-scenes actions for the union.

I have been married for 25 years; we have two grown boys and I'm a grandma of two, with another in the oven due in December.  I have two fluffy puppies, Sable and Dache, who are my kids now; they are Lhasa Apsos, and they keep me busy and laughing most days. I enjoy traveling — our next voyage is to the Mediterranean later this year — and I also enjoy working in my yard.

Thank you for reading a bit about me! CommonSpirit is one of the hardest companies to negotiate with, and I'm grateful for your trust in me and the rest of the bargaining team members working on this contract."
