Local Unit Officer Nominations

For term of office (June 2026 – June 2029)

Deadline to complete nominations is

March 27, 2026

Your current WSNA officers’ term of office will end June of 2026. Therefore, the first step in the process is for nurses to be nominated for each position. Once this is complete, a voting ballot will be mailed out to all nurses who are members in good standing.  Below are the WSNA Officer positions and a brief description of each.

By being a part of the WSNA officer team, you are a part of the negotiating team and a body of dynamic nursing leaders who have been given the authority to make critical decisions in the best interest of the nurses, though various platforms.  Aside from negotiations, the officers engage in Conference Committee meetings which occur every other month on paid time.  This is a forum where the Officers bring issues from the nurses forward to be addressed in a timely manner. You work closely with WSNA Nurse Rep Jaclyn Smedley to run the local unit.

The term of office is 3 years (June 2026 – June 2029):

Chairs:  The Local Unit Chairs is the leader and coordinator of the local unit.  They are responsible for ensuring the goals and accomplishing the business of the local unit.  The goals work to keep members informed and involved, uphold the Local Unit Rules, and ensure committees are functional and accountable.  The Chair runs local unit meetings.

Vice-Chair: Works closely with the Chair in the responsibilities of leadership as outlined above.

Secretary:  The Local Unit Secretary maintains all records and minutes of the Local Unit.

Treasurer:   The Local Unit Treasurer keeps an itemized account of all the receipts and disbursements pertaining to local unit funds and reports to the Officers on the status of the dues.

Grievance Officer:  The Local Unit Grievance Officer oversees contract enforcement through the use of the grievance procedure found in the contract, and by doing so, advocates for all the nurses.
