On Day 1, we presented a proposal and discussed the path forward for negotiations. Amanda Crawford and Carolyn Chandler are no longer part of PVNA and will not be involved in the negotiation team moving ahead. We wish them all the best in their new endeavors and retirement; they will be missed. The contributions of Kathleen Thompson, Amanda Crawford, and Carolyn Chandler have been greatly appreciated.

We are appreciative that Kathleen will remain on the negotiation team and as an officer and committee member.

On Day 2 we welcomed our new team member, Denise Beck, who brings a wealth of experience in the nursing field.

These two bargaining sessions have proven to be highly productive, resulting in approximately four tentative agreements. Many of these agreements focus on maintaining seniority for employees currently with PVNA as of April 30, 2025.

The Employer name in the contract will be PAH-INWA.

We are continuing discussions regarding PTO cash-out versus rollover. They have assured us that any approved PTO Requests and for those on approved leave with PVNA will be honored, although it may be classified as unpaid leave at this time. We expect further discussions on the PTO cash-out versus PTO carryover to take place.

WSNA’s researcher and Compassus’s Benefit Coordinator joined us to clarify the various insurance plans being offered and how they compare. We are continuing our discussions to ensure that the plans are indeed comparable.

Employees currently on leave will have the opportunity to sign up in Workday upon their return. We have been informed that there will be an option to switch plans, if necessary, once we receive more information and reach an agreement on Health Benefits.

We have opportunities to get involved. 

Participating in creating change is rewarding and impactful not only on your patients but on your Professional Career. Your unit may be small in numbers, but you make a huge impact on the patients you care for and the community you serve.  You have the opportunity to make changes in your working conditions and profession.

We have openings on the officer team.  As an officer you attend the Conference Committee.  The Conference Committee is a space where you and management are colleagues working on issues that deal with contractual issues and other non-practice issues. This role has more opportunities, just ask.

As a member of the Nurses Practice Committee, you are able to address nurse practice issues that impact patient care.  This is another opportunity to collaborate with management in a space that supports collaboration and common goals of improving the care provided.

A steward is a member who is willing to step in to help a fellow bargaining unit with questions regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement and much more depending upon your interests and the interests of the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Be a part of the Spokane Labor Council.  Get involved with the community.  This position provides your unit with the support of several local unions.  This is beyond valuable.  Have your voice heard!
