Local unit officer nominations extended

WSNA local unit officers are elected by the union nurse members every three years. We no longer have any of the officers remaining from the prior election. Therefore, this is a great time bring in some new officers to lead WSNA at the WA Soldiers Home. Recently, Jennifer Colbert RN has stepped up as the acting Chairperson to help carry out the business of the union until official voting takes place.

Officer Positions include: Chairperson; Co-Chairperson; Secretary/Treasurer; and Grievance Officer

Duties of Officers:
1. The chairperson shall preside at all meetings of the unit and be an ex officio member, with vote, of all committees, except the Nominating Committee.

2. The co-chairperson shall perform the duties of the chairperson in the absence of the chairperson and shall perform other duties as may be assigned.

3. The positions of secretary/treasurer is combined and held by one person.

4. The grievance officer shall be the liaison between the unit and WSNA to advise and assist WSNA in the Association's dealings with the Employer concerning grievances.

WSNA Officers work in collaboration with the Nurse Representative to advocate for nurses working for the WA Soldiers Home. WSNA provides training for each of these roles. You may nominate yourself or someone you feel would fill the role well.

You should have received a nomination form in the mail late July. Contact your Nurse Rep or acting Chair if you need another copy.
Note: Only 1 Nomination form was received, so the deadline has been extended: Postmarked by August 19, 2022.
