Per Diem Nurses Join Our Union: Tentative Agreement Reached

We are pleased to share that we have reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on accretion bargaining to formally welcome per diem nurses into our Tacoma General bargaining unit under our Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This is a meaningful step forward in strengthening our collective voice and ensuring that all nurses have representation, protection, and a seat at the table.

What This Agreement Does

Per diem nurses will now be recognized as part of our union, with full representation by WSNA. This change ensures consistency, fairness, and solidarity across our workforce.

Key Wins

  • Just Cause Protections - per diem RNs will now have just cause protection and access to the grievance process, ensuring fairness and due process.
  • Continuing Education Support - per diem RNs will receive annual continuing education funds ($100), supporting professional growth and development.
  • Access to Existing Programs - per diem RNs will maintain access to programs such as incentive pay (IPP), retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.
  • Recognition of Seniority - per diem RNs will have their seniority based on their original TG hire date which will count for internal opportunities and certain staffing processes.

Strength in Numbers

This agreement reflects our shared commitment to equity, respect, and unity. By bringing per diem RNs into our bargaining unit, we are strengthening our ability to advocate for safe staffing, fair compensation, and high-quality patient care.

We encourage all members to warmly welcome our per diem colleagues. Their contributions are vital to TG, and their inclusion makes us stronger as a bargaining unit.

More details about the TA and next steps, including the ratification process and vote, will be shared soon.
