Rest Between Shifts Grievance WIN!

WSNA is asking all RNs to review this message immediately

Congratulations WSNA RNs! You have won your Association Group Grievance around Rest Between Shifts. This past spring, we heard beginning April 1, 2025, for whatever reason, this premium suddenly, and without warning, ceased to be paid. Nurses who fell into this category inquired with management to find out why the premium stopped, and with no explanation, they were still denied pay for inadequate rest. Because of this, a grievance was filed to protect the bargained rights of all Skagit RNs under your WSNA contract, and to seek retro pay for those who had been harmed.

We are happy to report the WSNA nurses of Skagit Regional have WON their grievance!

To ensure we capture everyone who has been impacted, a resolution process has been agreed to with management, and now it’s time for you to ACT.  This process is to allow all RNs the ability to indicate they have missed out on any Rest Between Shifts (RBS) pay, and to receive the retro pay for any lost premiums owed to them.  We therefore have agreed to the following process for this, outlined below. Nurses have until December 28, 2025 to let WSNA Nurse Representative Robin Cully know via email at rcully@wsna.org you were harmed.DO NOT miss this deadline. Any requests received after this date, will not be processed per the agreement.

Outlined Settlement Process

  • Beginning today (December 11, 2025), through close of business on December 28, 2025, all RNs must notify WSNA Nurse Representative Robin Cully via email at rcully@wsna.org they would like a Rest Between Shift(s) review. Provide your name, unit, any past impacted dates that should have had the premium applied, but did not. Rest-between-shift retro premium will be paid for the period from April 1, 2025 to present.
  • Human Resources will have from December 29, 2025 until January 31, 2026 to review all impacted RNs requests and their corresponding dates for retroactive pay.
  • HR will issue any retroactive payment via paycheck in February 2026.
  • Once the RN has receive his/her retro pay, in the event they feel their retroactive pay was applied incorrectly, they will have the option to file a grievance per the language in Article 18.
