For the 23rd year in a row, nurses rank No. 1 in Gallup Poll’s annual Most Honest and Ethical Professions Poll.

The poll of 23 occupations released Jan. 13 found that 76% of Americans — three out of four — consider nurses highly honest and ethical.

Grade-school teachers rank second, with 61% viewing them highly. Military officers, pharmacists, and medical doctors also earn high trust from a majority of Americans.

The least trusted professions, with more than half of U.S. adults saying their ethics are low or very low, are lobbyists, members of Congress, and TV reporters.

The poll was conducted Dec. 2-18, 2024.
