Keepnews to receive ANA National Award

The award recognizes substantial contributions made by an individual man in nursing to the profession in the areas of practice, research, education, public policy, and/or community service.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) has announced that WSNA Executive Director David Keepnews, PhD, JD, RN, FAAN, will receive the Luther Christman Award. The award recognizes substantial contributions made by an individual man in nursing to the profession in the areas of practice, research, education, public policy, and/or community service.

The award is one of 15 ANA National Awards, recognizing outstanding nurses and nurse champions for their vital contributions to nursing and health care, to be conferred at a ceremony June 25 in Washington, D.C.

Keepnews, who has served as WSNA Executive Director since 2021, is a nationally recognized policy expert and labor leader. He also serves as a vice-president of AFT, WSNA’s national labor partner. Keepnews has announced his plans to retire in August.
