Just in time for Earth Day on April 22 is a book written by nurses with nurses’ input: Taking Action: Top 10 Priorities for Nurses to Protect Health in a Changing Climate.

Julia Barcott, former WSNA vice president and a member of the WSNA Professional Nursing and Healthcare Council, contributed to the book written by Katie Huffling, DNP, RN, CNM, FAAN, executive director of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (AHNE), and Susan B. Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, the senior advisor for nursing emerita at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The authors said the book is a nonpolitical guide that translates the latest science into actionable strategies.

A virtual book launch will be held at 11 a.m. PT on April 22 with the authors. The event, co-hosted by ANHE and Sigma, will explore how nurses can lead in addressing one of the most pressing public health challenges of our time and what it takes to translate urgency into action across care settings and communities.
