Contract negotiations update - June 22, 2022

We have a tough fight ahead of us as Fresenius management failed to acknowledge the importance of the majority of our proposals.

  • We have proposed a wage scale with annual steps so you can advance each year at your anniversary and also receive an annual cost of living increase.

The proposed wage scale begins at $43 per hour at base and increases up to $70 at year 31, and is based on years of nursing experience.

Management did not respond to our economic proposals as they state they want to bargain the other issues of the contract first.

  • They rejected our proposal for per diems to receive a 15% pay in lieu of benefits, as they currently receive no differential. We will continue to push on this.
  • They rejected improved overtime language, which would put you into OT immediately when you exceed your scheduled shift, as opposed to waiting to go over 40 hours per week.
  • They rejected providing nurses with 1 or 2 paid Administrative Days per month in which to complete mandatory duties such as continuing education, foot and medication checks, care plans, and other required checks. This would be optional as some nurses may be able to complete their requirements during regular scheduled days.
  • They rejected our proposals for a HD certification premium and a degree premium (BSN, MSN).

The first session was a short session on Sunday June 12. We will be digging deeper into the contract at our upcoming 5 hour sessions on June 28 and June 29.

We need you to show unity with your negotiations team and show support for a fair contract. What you can do:

  • Wear your “I support my Negotiations Team” stickers at work every day. Be bold and proud!
  • Use and wear your WSNA Swag that you received in the mail.
  • Join our newly established facebook group to keep up on the latest and have an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas.
  • Take pictures of yourself with your WSNA sticker on for us to use on facebook. Be careful not to show patients or patient information. Send pics to jstewart@wsna.org
  • Motivate your co-workers to stand up for a better union contract. We’re a small group, but strong if we stand together.
