Get Involved with Your Kadlec WSNA Local Unit

Our local unit is growing its leadership team, and we are looking for Kadlec nurses who want to help strengthen our union, support their coworkers, and improve communication across the hospital.

We are currently seeking members interested in the following roles:

Grievance Officer

Grievance Officers help members understand and enforce the contract, participate in investigatory and grievance meetings, identify workplace concerns, and work closely with the WSNA Nurse Representative. Training and ongoing support are provided, you do not need prior grievance experience.

Member-at-Large — Communications and Social Media

This officer will help improve communication with members by assisting with social media, local-unit announcements, meeting and event promotion, contract education, and other approved outreach. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys writing, creating engaging content, or helping coworkers stay informed.

Unit Stewards

We are also building a network of Unit Stewards throughout Kadlec. Unit Stewards serve as a connection between nurses in their department and the local-unit officer team. They help:

  • Welcome and connect with new members
  • Share WSNA updates and educational materials
  • Identify emerging workplace concerns
  • Encourage participation in meetings, surveys, and union activities
  • Direct members to an officer or WSNA representative when assistance is needed
  • Help ensure that every Kadlec department has a voice

Serving as a Unit Steward is an excellent way to become involved without immediately taking on an elected officer position. The role can be adapted to your experience and availability, and training and support will be provided.

No prior union experience is required for any of these opportunities. What matters most is a willingness to learn, communicate, maintain confidentiality, and help build a strong, informed, and connected local unit.

If you are interested, would like more information, or simply want to explore whether one of these roles might be a good fit, please contact Jennifer Jackson, WSNA Nurse Representative. Expressing interest does not commit you to accepting a position.

Please consider stepping forward and encourage a coworker who would make a strong union leader to reach out as well. A strong local unit depends on members from every shift, department, and experience level becoming involved.
