Bargaining Day 4 Update

KITTV bargaining

The teams met on Friday, Nov. 21 for our fourth bargaining session.

Chad Bearup, Jennifer Crane and Allison Campbell attended as observers.

We had productive conversations with management this session and got close to reaching tentative agreements on language that will help us fully staff units across our bargaining unit by recruiting new hires and retaining the experts we already have on staff. Management expressed interest in a number of our proposals – including a modified Baylor shift for night shift nurses and more sustainable practices for home hospice nurses – and invited more conversation on how we can implement creative ways to recruit and retain RNs over the next contract term. We’re looking forward to meeting at the table next session and hope to have exciting updates to announce in our next update.

Management also responded to our opening wage proposal at the end of the day. Though there’s still a big gap between where we want our wages to be next year and what management proposed, KVH was open to WSNA proposed updates that would bring our wage scale’s structure more in line with the Puget Sound-area facilities we compete with for nurses. Over the holiday break, we’re reviewing data from other contracts and prepping for our next session so we can continue to push management for the wages we know nurses in the Kittitas Valley deserve.
