Vaccine mandate update

Per the Governor’s recent proclamation, all healthcare workers in Washington must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, 2021, or be separated from employment, unless the employee has an approved religious exemption and accommodation, or a medical disability accommodation. Please note deadlines for submitting paperwork. Once the deadline for submitting a religious or medical exemption has passed, the UW will still accept forms, however, cannot guarantee a response in time for the deadline for vaccination should your request be denied. You must submit proof of the vaccine to the employer prior to Oct. 18 per their guidelines. Please be sure to review the UW’s specific requirements for proof of vaccine and reach out to the UW if you have questions.

We are bargaining with the UW over the effects of the mandate, meaning how it will be implemented. WSNA officers and reps have already met with the UW twice. This should not affect those of you who are already fully vaccinated. If you are not yet vaccinated, you should take action as soon as possible. That means getting your first Moderna dose no later than Sept. 6; your first Pfizer dose no later than Sept. 13, or submitting your request for accommodation as soon as possible.
