What’s happening now for the nurses who take Call?

March on the boss!

On March 2, 2023, we presented the petition and impact statements to the CNE, Christin Gordanier, and Cindy Jo Allen, the director of surgical services. We had 93% of the staff sign the petition! The petition supports nurses getting the Daily overtime premium (anything over 12-hrs on July 1, 2023, will be double time), the three-hour minimum, and the call premium (which will increase to $7/hr. July 1, 2023) while continuing the practice of scheduling a call shift directly after a regularly scheduled shift. UWMC-NW is holding firm to the position that the Kronos system cannot handle paying all the premiums. WSNA has an information request asking for additional information.

WSNAs stance is that the nurses required to take call should receive all the premiums outlined in the contract. To try and reach an amicable resolution, the employer has stated that nurses will be permitted to schedule a call shift the day before a regularly scheduled shift. UWMC-NW labor relations has also offered that nurses may continue to schedule call after a regularly scheduled shift IF the nurses are willing to waive the daily overtime premium.
