Update: vaccine mandate negotiations with PeaceHealth

After three attempts by WSNA to negotiate with PeaceHealth over its unilateral implementation of its vaccine mandate, including its decision to place nurses with medical or religious exemptions on unpaid leave of absence as of September 1, PeaceHealth stopped responding to us. Because PeaceHealth was refusing to respond to (let alone bargain with) the Union (which it is legally obliged to do), we filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board last week and requested that the Board file for an injunction against PeaceHealth. Specifically, we asked the Board to enjoin PeaceHealth from putting exempt nurses on leaves of absence, which would devastate staffing even further because it has not bargained with us. Currently, the Board is collecting evidence to determine whether it will go into federal court and request an injunction. We should know in the next several days what the Board will do.
