Slow but Steady Progress
Posted Feb 6, 2026

We want to start out by saying thank you to our nurses going above and beyond to support this campaign. Our bargaining room had more than twenty observers in the morning and more than forty throughout our entire day! Thanks to the increased support and presence from our bargaining unit nurses, we are seeing small gains at our bargaining table.
Management sent counter responses to our Union to multiple articles including 6,7,8,9, 15, and 19. See below!

Our team has a tight turnaround before our next bargaining session on Tuesday, February 10, to build counters to send to management. We are also working on a subject matter expert meeting to gather more information about Aetna and what we can do relative to our new health insurance.
What Can I Do To Help?
Be an observer- sign up today to observe our contract negotiations. Half day and full day sign up available. Next sessions include February 10, February 20, and February 24. This is our bargaining team’s most pressing ask- we are over 2,000 strong at Sacred Heart and we want our bargaining room to be filled with HUNDREDS of nurse observers. We do not have a limit on who can attend. Read below from Jennifer Britton, an IV therapy nurse who has observed multiple sessions with our team!

”I have been able to attend multiple negotiations with our bargaining team and administration. It's a complex process that our WSNA team is incredibly knowledgeable and will fight to get us the best contract. However, it is important to show that we support their efforts. Take the time to show Providence that you are engaged and support our team and attend as many negotiations as you can.”
How else can I help?
- Attend our after bargaining union meetings- Our team following each bargaining session will hold a virtual meeting for nurses to get real-time updates from that day. Meetings held at 6pm and 8pm on bargaining dates. Bring a colleague!
- Become a Steward- Are you comfortable with your contract? Are you someone with whom your colleagues ask questions to about our union or contract? Step up your game and help us strengthen our Union at Sacred Heart. One hour training provided on an individual basis- sign up today.
- Provide a meal- we have had nursing units turn out to provide breakfast or lunch for our bargaining team. It’s a kind gesture and a way to say thank you to our team.
A huge THANK YOU to the continued support from our nurses wearing their WSNA blue while working to serve our community.
