Staffing committee update

The Staffing Committee meets regularly once a month; usually the third Thursday of each month. During these meetings we review the Nurse Staffing Analysis Forms. We often meet with management and staff from units who are showing a pattern of staffing problems to try and understand the staffing issues in their unit and determine how those issues may best be addressed.

Currently, we are working to try to better understand the Washington State Patient Safety Act and how we can utilize that law to its fullest extent in order to promote safe staffing on all of our units.

Recent news: Kacey Bramell and Karen Deason resigned from the committee. We thank them for their service on the committee and their work on behalf of the nurses of Sacred Heart.

Nonie Kingma is the new co-chair of the committee. We welcome new committee members Heidi Johnson - float nurse, and Kelsey South - ED. Other members include Vicki Benson - radiology, Raul Gatchalian - 7 north, and Tom Barnett - PICU.
