Local Unit Updates

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement for the grievance filed on behalf of Bailey and all affected as it pertains to management paying shift differential in “zones” when working in callback. We believe this to be a significant achievement! The settlement outlines how nurses can petition lost wages, the implementation process, timelines, and what to expect as we move forward together.
If you feel you have not been paid correctly due to this issue, you must take the following steps BELOW per the settlement.
- Any nurse who believes that they were not paid the correct amount of shift differential under Article 7.1 of the WSNA contact while working in callback between the dates of January 14, 2025 to April 4, 2026 (the “relevant time period.”), may request that the Medical Center review their callback hours and shift differential payments for that period. Such requests for review must be submitted to Human Resources Business Partner Heather Sulpizio via email at heather.sulpizio@providence.org. Any requests received outside this 30 day period (August 6 – September 5, 2026) will not be considered for review.
- Any nurse who submits a request for shift differential review pursuant to paragraph (a) above, shall have an additional 30 days from the date of their request to e-mail Heather Sulpizio at heather.sulpizio@providence.org with information establishing why they believe they did not receive the correct amount of shift differential during the relevant time. Such information must include at a minimum the exact dates and number of hours in which the nurse believes they should have received differential. All shift differential information must be emailed to Heather Sulpizio within 30 days of the nurse's request (September 6, 2026 – October 6, 2026) depending on the date, during the relevant time frame, it was submitted by the nurse or else it will not be considered.
- The Medical Center will complete its review of any information received pursuant to paragraph (b) as quickly as possible, but no later than 90 days from the date of submission (January 4, 2027). If the Medical Center finds that a nurse is entitled to receive additional shift differential pursuant to the settlement agreement, it will notify the caregiver and issue payment within three pay periods of completing its review.
If you have any questions on this settlement agreement or process, please reach out to Jaclyn Smedley BSN, RN at jsmedley@wsna.org.
