Pregnant and breastfeeding workers have rights under the law
Documenting Providence’s failure to provide accommodations for pregnant and breastfeeding workers.
You may have seen that Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown filed a lawsuit against Providence Health & Services over their alleged failure to provide legally required accommodations for pregnant and breastfeeding workers.
That includes workers at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.
The graphic below outlines the accommodations employers must provide to pregnant and breastfeeding workers. We’ve heard stories of nurses pumping in bathrooms, being forced to take leave early, and other horror stories.
Have you been denied accommodations? Or have your requests been ignored?
WSNA wants to support you and advocate for you. Please contact Jaclyn Smedley at jsmedley@wsna.org to talk about your situation.
WSNA put out a statement on May 14. Now, let’s work together to make Providence do the right thing.
