Believe it or not, it’s time for another MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) VOTE! Two MOUs have recently been negotiated to enhance the contract and your working conditions. WSNA is recommending a “YES” vote for both and here’s the scoop.

MOU Special Pathogens Unit

During COVID, when the (Special Pathogens Unit) SPU unit was activated, Sacred Heart found challenges to staffing when providing trained coverage for the unit. To better serve the committee, your WSNA Officers and Management discussed an MOU that would expand the pool of nurses, but only during a time of activation. The goal of the MOU is to create a larger list of WSNA RNs in the event of another activation and/or pandemic.

MOU Dialysis Unit

Since Aug. 1, 2022 a dialysis unit has been opened and staffed by WSNA RNs. What we found recently is that these nurses were asked by management to take call but were not considered a mandatory call unit by the contract or by management. Thus, a demand to bargain was sent and the following MOU has been secured, as well as a new list of Clinical Grouping which now encompasses the dialysis unit. Management has told us the dialysis nurses will be retro paid any lost overtime as a result of this issue, so if you feel you have been impacted in this way, reach out to your Nurse Rep immediately.
