On Oct. 30 we met for the 2^nd session with the county. Your WSNA negotiation team received the county’s response to our comprehensive proposal. The county inquired about the meal break waiver. WSNA will not agree to waive meal periods on behalf of our members. WSNA will agree to allow individual nurses to voluntarily waive a meal period, provided the employer does not coerce the member to obtain the waiver. The county is planning on coming to the table next session with an updated economic proposal.

We have a lot of work to do as we continue to under­stand all the ways the county’s proposals will impact the staff nurses. Our next session is Nov. 30 and we are working on getting more dates.
