Change in Nurse Representative for the WSNA Staff Nurses and contract update

To the wonderful SeaKing nurses,

I wanted to let you all know that I am moving to Texas with my family and will no longer be working for WSNA as a nurse rep. I enjoyed being able to advocate for the public health nurses for almost four years and getting to know many of you. I hope that you have gotten to know Tara Barnes, while I was out on leave the past few months, who has helped to get your contract to the finish line. The King County Council will hold a special session in July where your ratified contract is presented and recommended for adoption. We will continue to update you each step of the way. Keep doing the great things that you do to take care of the King County community. Tara Barnes will be your new Nurse Rep. I leave you in good hands with Tara taking the reins.

Tara has been a nurse since 1994, with a background in Critical Care, Medical- Surgical and Oncology Nursing, as well as LTC, Home Care, Ambulatory Care and Nursing Education. She has been an Organizer with WSNA since 2017 and was a union officer and activist prior to that.

Bringing a passion for advocacy and collaboration, Tara is excited to be a supportive presence for WSNA members, to make the most of a Union Strong workplace for nurses.

Tara is now taking over all new issues as they arise. I have been working with both Tara and your local unit officers to ensure a smooth transition.

Reach out to Tara at tbarnes@wsna.org or at 206 -575-7979, ext.3027.

In solidarity,
Michelle Moore, WSNA Nurse Representative
