Contract implementation and other updates
Posted Jul 10, 2026
Your 2026-2028 WSNA collective bargaining agreement (CBA) continues on its transmittal process at the County. Following the ratification vote by the WSNA members, it now is scheduled for presentation to the King County Council on July 14. It then goes to the County Executive for signature and 10 days later becomes ordinance, effective.
The nurses will be notified when the effective CBA is published to your local unit webpage. It is expected that the retro pay will be paid in the first full pay period following the effective date.
Executive Conference Committee (ECC):
Your WSNA officers meet quarterly with the County leadership in the department of public health (PH) to discuss issues, working conditions concerning the staff nurses. In June we had extensive dialogue regarding:
- There are deep concerns regarding impacts of immigration enforcement on clients served by PH. Though the County, City and State have been clear in their position and actions to provide care as sanctuary in private spaces, the distress of impacts on clients persists. Please follow any Code Rainbow or other communicated policies provided by the employer to better understand how to best support clients and families you care for while at various work sites.
- Changes to remote work, progression of return to office in various divisions and the specific challenges that persist related to this. Thank you to the many nurses who shared detailed information about the nature of their work and the impacts of this upon the ability to do the work and provide the services within your program and sites.
We will update you on opportunities for training with respect to immigration enforcement and safety (nurses are free to seek training and information available now through groups such as Seattle Indivisible Constitutional Observer trainings.
As the alternative work schedule (AWS) demand to bargain occurred this past February, WSNA has been awaiting a request for information regarding the scope and impacts upon the represented staff nurses. We will update the nurses regarding the status of this. If you have not done so already and work in CHS, Prevention or Professional Services division, please submit your response in the Rapid Response survey to support these efforts. Given the ongoing nature of this, we have extended the period of responses until August 1:
