Updates this week!

The Seattle King County WSNA nurses 2026-2028 contract transmittal process continues. We originally understood the King County Council hearing regarding the tentative agreement (TA) that the WSNA membership ratified in June would occur on July 14. We since learned that this was not accurate. Though the TA was transmitted to the Council on July 14, we still need to have the hearing. We have continued to inquire about the scheduling of the hearing and vote of the Council. As soon as we have that date, we will update the nurses. Following passage by vote of the Council, it continues onto Executive Zahilay for signature and 10 days later becomes effective. Stay tuned!

Two frequently asked questions (FAQ) and responses:

  1. What is retroactive and what is prospective with the contract? (prospective means effective once the contract is fully ratified through the County contract transmittal process)

The answer is this: all terms and provisions in the new contract are prospective, they become effective on the date it completes the transmittal process, with just one exception: the wage increase of 3.75% will be retroactive to January 1, 2026. All other provisions are prospective. Nurses are strongly encouraged to assess your current wage rate on your individual pay statements at present so that when the increases do occur, it will be clear to you as soon as possible about the accuracy. It is reasonable to anticipate that the retroactive pay will be delivered through your regular payroll process or maybe a separate payment in the first full pay period following the effective date of the contract, which is yet to be known. For your reference, here is the TA Summary shared with nurses and posted to your local unit webpage.

  2. What is happening with the supervisor arbitration regarding PHSS and CHSS, especially since it was a win for the WSNA nurses that was reaffirmed after the County appealed the initial win?

The answer is in the full update that was posted to the WSNA supervisors local unit webpage on July 17.
