Negotiations have begun - Day 1 update

Thank you to those of you who were able to make it to the 'Kick off to Negotiations' picnic on Saturday. We all had a great time doing some preliminary brainstorming on what we want to accomplish during contract negotiations for the staff and supervisor units while eating delectable food from Marination, playing summer games, and enjoying a sunny afternoon by Lake Washington. To both those of you who came to the picnic and to those unable to make it, please be assured we will continue to listen to your voices and represent you to the best of our abilities at the negotiation table this fall. But we can't speak on your behalf if we don't know what you want. Please feel free to contact the team members either individually or together to relay your concerns, ideas, and/or opinions.

On Sept. 12, your bargaining team met with the County leadership for the first session of negotiations. There were new faces on both sides of the table. Neither the WSNA nor the County exchange proposals but did set the stage for negotiations.

Our next bargaining date will be on Thursday, Sept. 29.

By becoming a member, you help your fellow nurses at the table secure competitive wages and improved working conditions. By becoming a member, you demonstrate the collective power of Public Health Seattle King County nurses, which results in greater control over your work life. Contact your representative Michelle Moore at mmoore@wsna.org to become a member today. We are in this together!

Your Bargaining team,

Tyler Brier, Chair, Child Care program
